Pietro Perugino, 1450-1523, was an Italian Renaissance painter of the Umbrian school, teacher of Raphael. His last frescoes were painted for the church of the Madonna delle Lacrime in Trevi, the monastery of Sant'Agnese in Perugia, and in 1522 for the church of Castello di Fortignano. One of best Pietro Perugino paintings is the Virgin between Saint Jerome and Saint Francis, now in the Palazzo Penna. Among his pupils is Raphael, upon whose early artwork Perugino's influence is most noticeable.
